Avi Jencmen is an Off Counsel Partner to HSLance, bringing deep technical and legal expertise to our global intellectual property practice. He is a U.S. Patent Agent and a licensed Israeli Advocate with a strong foundation in computer science, defense technologies, and international IP law.

A graduate of the prestigious Academic Reserve Program of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Avi earned his B.Sc. in Computer Science (Cum Laude) from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and later completed an M.Sc. in Computer Science at Tel Aviv University during his service. His distinguished career at Elbit Systems saw him lead complex Command & Control (C2) programs across multiple jurisdictions, with hands-on responsibility for engineering, contracts, R&D, manufacturing, acquisitions, and intellectual property.

Following a decade at Elbit, Avi pursued law and earned his LL.B., after which he practiced with some of Israel’s top-tier IP firms. He has since advised a broad range of clients on global patent strategy, portfolio development, and IP commercialization, combining his technical insight with a pragmatic legal approach.

At HSLance, Avi advises clients across sectors including software, defense, semiconductors, and AI. His services span the full patent lifecycle—from early-stage innovation strategy and invention harvesting, to patent drafting, prosecution, open-source compliance, and IP monetization across jurisdictions including the U.S., EU, and Israel.
